How It Works
-
- Please arrive at your designated ARRIVAL TIME with performance hair and make–up done. Parents can assist in using the downstairs dressing room or Studio B to change into costume.
- Dancers should line up in the hallway along the windows outside STUDIO C in costume at their designated PHOTO TIME.
- Dancers will take photos in STUDIO C, then go into STUDIO A for rehearsal with their teacher and director.
- Please note: photo session and rehearsal are CLOSED for observation.
- Students will exit STUDIO A when they are done.
- If your child is in more than one show number, the process is repeated. Parents must assist younger dancers in changing hair and costumes. We will have no parent volunteers assisting with this on dress rehearsal day.
- If your child is only in one show number, you may change out of costume and leave after photos and rehearsal. For one show number this process takes about 45 minutes.
IMPORTANT NOTES CLOSED REHEARSAL – The photo session and rehearsal will not be open for observation. Belliston Staff, scholarship students and select volunteers will be escorting the dancers through the studios on rehearsal day. Parents will not have access to the studios.
Depending on how long your dancer will be at dress rehearsal, feel free to pack snacks, a lunch and water. Food and drinks are strictly prohibited in Studio A and should not be eaten in costume.
Because we get the luxury of having a dress rehearsal, participation is MANDATORY to perform. Dress rehearsal is about giving the group a chance to understand their spacing, formations, entrances/exits, and traffic patterns in the bigger space. If a dancer is not in their spot, then it changes the dynamic- and safety- for everyone else. No dress rehearsal, no show. (This includes if the dancer shows up, but arrives late enough to miss their time slot. Plan accordingly.) A successful dress rehearsal is a team effort. Go team! 🙂

Dancer Check-In/Out
- Dancers enter through the West entrance, located at the lower parking lot of the building to check-in on show days.
- Parents can check-out dancers at the hallway doors located downstairs by the concession tables.
- For safety purposes, all dancers ages 10 & under MUST be checked out by a parent.
Audience Entrance
- Audience members enter through the East entrance of the building located at the upper parking lot.
- Theater doors will open 30 min before the show begins
- All seats are General Admission
ALL Mini Movers & Pre Dance students must attend the mandatory Dress Rehearsal on June 10th or 11th (see schedule under 'Mandatory Dress Rehearsal & Photos'). This gives parents the opportunity to practice hair/makeup and dancers the opportunity to practice in the bigger space.
All Mini Mover & Pre Dance classes will perform in ONE show. Belliston Academy has hired student helpers for the Mini Mover and Pre Dance classrooms so parents can enjoy the show! No parent volunteers are needed.
Each Mini Mover & Pre Dance student will receive TWO FREE tickets to the show they are not participating in. This can be used for dancer and parent. This gives our tiny dancers the opportunity to watch the show and see the "big kids" on stage.

COSTUMES
- All purchased and rental costumes will be checked out the week of June 3-8th in Dancer’s Closet.
- Pre Dance & Mini Movers can pick up costumes the last 10 min of class in your dancers classroom. Your dancers teacher will review costume pieces & answer any questions you may have.
- Costumes will be given in a garment bag labeled with your dances name and should arrive to rehearsal and show in that bag.
- Tutus should be fluffed (aerosol hairspray works well) and all layers separated.
- DO NOT iron your costumes!
- DO NOT arrive at the studio or theater wearing your costume. You will change into your costume when you arrive.
- Please be careful when putting on and taking off your costume. Do not lose any pieces
- Please review the accessories list below to ensure your dancer has the proper shoes, hairs and extras for their number
HAIR
- All hair, regardless of style, must be pulled back and sprayed into place.
- NO BANGS, NO WISPIES.
- Buns must have bobby pins and hair nets. These can be purchased in Dancers Closet.

Accessories & Hair
MAKEUP
- Arrive at the studio and theater with hair & make-up done.
- (DON’T FORGET YOUR Cover Girl #507 Lipstick- this is required for the entire studio)
- The purpose of stage makeup is so we can clearly see your dancer’s face from the audience and in the video. For a really great explanation on the WHY behind stage makeup, click here.
- Boys should also wear light stage makeup, for the same reasons that the girls do. In professional theatre, this is always the case.
Dress Rehearsal and Show Day Makeup:
- Foundation
- Brown eyeshadow
- Black eyeliner
- Black mascara
- Rose colored blush
- Red Lipstick (Cover Girl #507)
- Eyebrows filled in
- False eyelashes (Required for Ballet 4 & Up)
- Mini Movers & Pre Dance just need blush, mascara, eyebrow pencil & lipstick
FINALE- The entire cast participates in the finale.
- All students will receive a Spring Show t-shirt in their costume garment bag to wear in the finale.
- Mini Movers, Pre Dance & Kinder PD will put their t-shirt over their costume.
- All other dancers will wear their own black pants (plain black leggings)
- Ballet or jazz shoes. No tap shoes please. If you only take tap, then bring a pair of tennis shoes for the finale. Dancers keep the hairstyle they had for the last show number on stage.

TICKET SALES
- Tickets go on sale Monday, May 6th.
- Go to https://buy.tututix.com/bellistonacademy to purchase.
- Tickets are $15 (plus processing) OR $20 at the door
- Sales close 1 hour before the show
- Children 2 & under or on laps are free.
- There is no limit on how many tickets you can purchase. We recommend getting your tickets early in case of a sold out show.
SPRING SHOW VIDEO
- We have hired a professional videographer so you can sit back and enjoy the show!
- NO VIDEO OR STILL CAMERAS WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE PERFORMANCE.
- A digital download will be available for purchase.

CONCESSIONS
- Flowers and concessions will be sold in the lobby before, during intermission and after the show.
SHOW ETIQUETTE
- Please stay seated & stay for the duration of both Act I & II. Your dancers have put in a lot of time and effort and deserve to have an attentive and full audience from beginning to end.
- All dancers perform in the finale dance.
- Dancers will not be excused until after the show. This is for the safety of all of our Belliston dancers!
Did you know that Dancer's Closet now has online ordering for in-store pick up? Use the link below to purchase any of your dancers additional show accessories. Dancers are required to wear specific colored shoes and tights for the show and must be the same brands as the ones available in Dancer's Closet.
We kindly ask that Spring Show orders are placed in advanced. Day of orders the week of show are not guaranteed to be ready for pick up.

Dancer's Closet Online Ordering
- There will be no volunteers at the studio on dress rehearsal nights. Parents should assist young dancers in changing before their scheduled rehearsal time.
- Volunteering back-stage at the show is a special opportunity to be a part of your child’s experience & we need volunteers to make this show a success!
